Consorzio Sale della Terra (Campania)

We chose to call ourselves Salt of the Earth because we say that we are all like grains of salt that, scattered throughout the national territory, try to create social cohesion, but in the right measure. Because we must not fall into welfare, we must give the opportunity to the people who do the paths with us to be able to self-determine

Liliana Apollonio

Ahmed arrived with his family from Syria in Italy, in Petruro Irpino, in Campania, after passing through Lebanon. There he left his tailoring shop where he sewed men’s suits. But thanks to this skill, Ahmed now follows other migrants and people with social and economic fragility who attend the inclusive craft workshop, one of the many activities of the Consortium “Sale della Terra”. Thanks to the craft workshop, attended when he was followed in the SAI (Welcome and Integration Systems) project of Petruro Irpino, Ahmed was able to find his way in Italy, continue working as a tailor and decide to stay and live in Petruro with his family.

The “Sale della Terra” Consortium is a group of social cooperatives, agricultural cooperatives and small businesses committed to local development according to the criteria of integral ecology. The Sale della Terra Civil Economy Network promotes, through its activities, paths of social and work inclusion, growth of vulnerable people, actions to defend the land, recovery of territories and social cohesion. It is also the promoter of the Network of Small Municipalities of Welcome, with the aim of improving life in small municipalities, under 5,000 inhabitants at risk of depopulation, through social and proximity entrepreneurship practices. Through its “welcome” model and its civil economy nodes, made up of accommodation and catering facilities and a network of social Farms and Gardens, Sale della Terra welcomes people who are recipients of social and work rehabilitation paths, people in Individualized Therapeutic Rehabilitation Projects and in alternative measures to detention, with social and economic fragility.
